Queenie’s Daughter
Original oil painting, 30"x40"
“Queenie’s Daughter” is part of the Safari triptych.
Years ago there was a cheetah the guides named “Queenie”. She endeared herself to them, and to those on photo safaris, by jumping onto the hoods of the vehicles. She would use this height advantage to scout out her territory. While she sat on high her cubs would cavort around the Land Cruiser. But if she spotted prey, she emitted a low growl and the cubs would stand stock still.
On our safari, one group of cheetahs was fearless. Several peered through the windshield at us from the hood of the car, and then hopped off indifferently. The guides think that these are Queenie’s offspring. This one beauty posed majestically.
